The Adelaide Festival has been presenting world-class Australian and international theatre companies and artists as well as some of the world’s best musicians, dance performers, writers and visual art events for over 60 years. It is an annual 4-week event in March, featuring numerous Australian and world premieres.
In 2025 AF presented the triple bill Club Amour, Tanztheater Wuppertal: Café Muller by Pina Bausch plus Aatt enen tionon and herses by Terrain Boris Charmatz (current director Tanztheater).
“Combining the brilliance of the legendary German choreographer (Pina Bausch) with the beauty of Henry Purcell’s arias, this masterpiece has its Australian premiere.” (AF)
“Café Muller is one of the most iconic works of Pina Bausch’s extraordinary repertoire and one of the most influential dance pieces of the 20th century.” (Limelight Magazine)
Pina Bausch, the founder of Tanztheater, is a titan of contemporary dance and her name galvanises Adelaide Festival audiences. The success of the company’s previous visits indicates that audiences from South Australia, interstate and overseas will be eager for its return.
